Out-Stupiding The Competition

I cannot recall a time when I've been more angry and frustrated at the KSU football team.

Up until today, I was convinced that Missouri was a superior team in terms of talent, speed, strength, and ability.  Nope.  It was a slugfest through the first half, and I'd say that both teams were pretty much equal.  There were some big plays on both sides, but it was mostly a lot of good, solid play all around.  Both defenses were pretty lackluster, but evenly so.  Both offenses were pretty successful up and down the field, also evenly so.  Until KSU fumbled the ball on the 1/2 yard line right before halftime.

Stupid!!!

Not only did they squander an opportunity to go into the locker room with all of the momentum against a higher ranked, favored, and at-home team, but they also lost out on the opportunity to pull the score dead even again.  With the way the D was playing, there was no guarantee that KSU would get 1+ stops during the second half, so each possession was critical.

Then the second half begins, and KSU began hemorrhaging the ball like it was a giant hunk of banana-wrapped ice.  Stupid, stupid, stupid!  After the second consecutive fumble, honestly, I turned it off and stormed away.  It's one thing to get pounded by the #5 team in the country and get out-shot in a shoot-out that you were never supposed to compete in anyway, but there is simply no excuse to get pummeled by a team that is no better than you are!  Seriously, why try the gimmick plays when you're churning out the yards with a high-percentage ground game that Missouri can't stop?  Heck, even the passing game was working pretty well today!  Far be it from me to second-guess the coaching staff (especially a legend like Snyder), but I just don't get it.  They were in this game from moment one...until they started to get cute.  And stupid.  Did I mention stupid?  Because they were.

The talent level, speed, strength, and ability of Missouri and KSU are level.  Today, the only difference is that KSU was vastly stupider.  And they paid for it.
