A Titanic Moment

A deal was struck in the late hours of the day yesterday.  I'll have more details and analysis in the coming days, but the short version is that the government will not shut down in exchange for about $38 billion in cuts.  I have yet to go look at any professional commentary, but my initial reaction is:

Congrats, Republicans, you have done a great job of forcing the Dems to bend to your will on the question of precisely how the Titanic's deck chairs should be arranged.  Well done.  With you representing us, what could go wrong?
