Deficits And A Trip Down Memory Lane

First, let's recall what Barack Obama said about expanding the deficit while he was campaigning:

Wow, really? Unpatriotic? Let's see, what were the major points? Oh yeah:
  • Bush was wrong because he drove up the national debt by $4 trillion over eight years
  • that's equivalent to $30k per person that has to be paid back
  • that's irresponsible and unpatriotic

Hm. Okay, now let's look at what Barack Obama has done himself:
  • spend, spend, spend
  • drive the national debt up by $4 trillion in two years
  • that's equivalent to $45k per person that has to be paid back

Remember this?

Bush's annual deficits are less than Obama's monthly deficits.

Do we really want to use this as the measuring stick for patriotism? Well, I'm up for it, sure, but I don't think it's going to do Obama any favors when it comes time for reelection. The facts can only be spun so much, and America isn't buying this tripe anymore.
