Housekeeping For The Week

For those of you who don't know, we will be moving later this week.  As such, I will probably not be posting much over the next few days.  But, as soon as the craziness is over, I'll be back!  :)

It's Like A Stock Split - Twice As Much Of The Same Great Thing!

Now that classes are winding down, I've decided to jump back into the political blogging arena again.  I know some of you aren't exactly thrilled about politics, so I want to respect that.  Thus, rather than just dabbling in it on here and mixing it in with non-political content, I thought it would be best to ramp up a serious site dedicated only to political content and split it out from everything else.  My old political blog has remained dormant for the past few years, but I've imported it into a new and more robust platform, given it a new look, and am going to give it another whirl.

The intent is to simplify politics into something simple and useful by aggregating the biggest and hottest topics in politics into a single site containing helpful commentary to put things into proper context.  I want it to be a place where anyone with any level of political knowledge -- including none at all -- can come on a regular basis and get informed about what's going on in politics in a short period of time.  Knowledge and understanding among American citizens are critical to the proper functioning of our form of government, and that's what I'm trying to provide.  If you know me, then you know it'll be from a conservative point of view, but I'm serious when I say that I'm happy to entertain comments, emails, or any other form of discussion or disagreement.  The best way to learn and grow is to debate and discuss, as long as there remains a healthy respect among the parties.  I'll try to be entertaining when I can; it's tough to convey nuance and sarcasm through the written word, but I promise I'll do my best!  Ultimately, though, the point is to provide information, and some of the topics will inevitably be serious ones.  I'll keep most of the fun stuff for this blog going forward.

If you're so inclined, come check it out.  Even better, feel free to bookmark it, visit regularly, and participate in the discussion!  Even better, pass it along to others who might like it, too!

Catching Up

Sorry for the lack of posts lately.  I've been studying for the GMAT test over the past couple of weeks, and the last few days in particular have been full of data sufficiency problems and arcane algebraic scribbles.  Ugh.

But, that's over now, I got the score I needed, and now I can get back to something resembling normal life.  Of course, I'm going to be taking a few days off here, so regular posting won't come back quite yet.  :)

However, I wanted to leave you with just a few thoughts...

Barack Obama's approval rating is at its lowest point ever (maybe that's partly because he prefers to celebrate Muslim holidays rather than Christian ones).  Most Americans
(73%) think the nation is on the wrong track.  Most Americans (63%) understand what the political class doesn't seem to get (or refuses to acknowledge): the key is to ACTUALLY  CUT SPENDING.  And finally, in case you're stressed about all the negative press about the Tea Party...more voters express more confidence in the Tea Party to understand the real problems we face and do the right thing than Congress.

The battle for the American people has been won, friends.  Now we just have to take on the idiots in Washington.

Coming Soon...

Yeah, I know, I've been neglecting the blog lately.  What can I say?  Life has been crazy!  But, I'm planning a couple posts on some major topics as soon as I can pull them together, including this business in Egypt and the latest developments on Obamacare's legal woes.  Good stuff, so come back and check it out!

I'm Baaaaaaack...!

Well, hello there!  For those of you who followed my previous blog, you know that it's been a few months since I've been active in the blogosphere.  Basically, life had gotten pretty crazy, it was sucking hours upon hours out of every day, and I found myself going nowhere with it.  In all fairness to myself, I do believe I was providing a beneficial service to regular readers by relating the goings-on of the current day political scene...but it seems that most people only really care about that sort of thing when the big big BIG news happens.  Otherwise, the general feeling on politics ranges from outright loathing to something approximating "meh".  When the readership seemed to peak few months, it became apparent that a professional career in political blogging simply wasn't in the cards for me, and all these things added up to a pretty obvious conclusion that it was time to end it.

However, I find that my need to express myself hasn't diminished...I guess I just can't keep my mental mouth shut!  So here I am, back with an all new blog.  It's going to take me some time to get things set up with links and such, so be patient with me as I develop the overall look and feel over the next few weeks.  I'm sure I'll recycle parts of the old blog, but this one is going to be something different.

I've had several people mention to me how they'll miss the political updates that I used to give them.  I still follow politics daily and believe it has a drastic effect on our daily lives, so I still plan to post on political goings-on.  But, rather than have a pure political blog with *ahem* numerous posts per day, I'm going to try to look at bigger picture trends and commentary, with only one or two posts a week to try to sum up what's been going on.  Hopefully that'll provide the basics of what people feel they need to know without getting so voluminous that it's annoying as heck to try to delve into.  Also, I'd like to post on other non-political stuff when the notion grabs me, too.  At this moment, I guess I envision this blog being a giant amalgamation of stuff I'm interested in, the sum total of which will be both fun and informative.  I hope you will find it so!

Thanks for being here...enjoy!
